Hip Hop Culture Center in Harlem at The Apollo’s Open House WeekendThis Black History Month weekend at the Apollo grants patrons a free visit to the landmark venue and includes:

• A performance by Hip Hop Culture Center in Harlem’ Atlas’ on the Apollo Theater’s Main stage
• Your chance to step on the Apollo’s stage;
• Film screenings;
• Health tests;
• Interactive family activities;

Atlas' (Amateur Night at the Apollo Winner)

Celebrate the Apollo Experience-Noon-3PM

Experience performances by the Hip Hop Culture Center in Harlem’s Atlas’, the Harlem Opera Theater, a winner from Amateur Night at the Apollo, Harlem School for the Arts, NYCHA Community Programs, and Urban Word NYC.  Hosted by Billy Mitchell.  Music by DJ King James.

Dancing Through Time at the Apollo Family Workshop- 2PM-4PM*
Lindy Hop and Twist your way back in time as dancer and choreographer Mickey Davidson teaches children ages 5 and over about various dances styles that have been popular at the Apollo.


A Day of Comedy, Music and Dance -Noon-3pm
Witness performances from an Amateur Night at the Apollo contestant, BMCC Tribeca PAC, Harlem Arts Alliance, and MTA Music Under New York, and “shake your thang” as the Dance Theatre of Harlem presents the Aetna Healthy Dancers/Healthy Families Initiative.  Music by DJ King James.

Shake Your Rattle & Roll Family Workshop 2pm-4pm*
Create and decorate handmade rattles with musician Kevin Nathaniel and visual artist Miah Leslie.  (For children ages 5 and over and their families.)

Health information on both days from Aetna, Harlem YMCA,  Healthy Eating and Living, and Harlem Hospital Center.
