John O. Nelson born and raised in Harlem, NY started rappin’ at a very early age. Influenced by LL COOL J, RUN DMC and THE TREACHROUS 3 John knew at an early age that he wanted to be an emcee. With his knack for improv and his ability to rhyme off the cuff he became really good at freestyling and making people laugh.

Directly following High School graduation John was signed to Mercury Records. His artist name Jay B.U.M, which stood for being unique mentally. He released his single “The Underground” on Mercury Records and toured with the likes of Black Sheep and Ed O.G. and the Bulldogs. After being released from Mercury John packed up and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his other love, acting.

After appearing on shows like NY Undercover, The Practice, Ally McBeal and CSI NY John decided to jump back into the Hip Hop scene. He released two mixtapes “The John O. Album” and “226 W.144th St.” named after the building and street he grew up on.

Shortly after he teamed up with a longtime neighborhood friend, Priest Forever and they formed a group called “Tha Gecko Brothas”, releasing two albums together. “Tha Gecko Brothas” continue to be one of the hottest underground groups to hit the Hip Hop scene in a longtime.
